Awareness

Day 7

Since I now know, far too well, the facts of Stillbirth I have to option to spread awareness. Something this is not discussed publicly often and has been taboo forever. This happens, unfortunately, FAR too often to be hidden from the public eye and not discussed durring pregnancy, before or after. I was shocked it happened to us. Never once did we discuss the chances of stillbirth durring ANY of my pregnancies. I think knowing that it is a REAL outcome and statistically it CAN happen to ANYONE it important. The shock factor isn't as much and we can have that emotional seed that would lessen the blow maybe? Last night a show broke that silence. The Secret Life of an American Teenager aired an episode on stillbirth. I watched and it hit home. Not only was I a teenage mom, I also endured stillbirth. (not durring the same pregnancy however) I am surprised I have not been watching this show from the start ( I'm not much for TV) I started watching some episodes on Netflix yesterday and caught up on some, then watched this episode. I may be hooked. I would like to see how they portray this couple grieving. I wish they had changed or added, what I feel are important points to the show. Such as the couple holding the child and giving her a name. The baby does not just  "dissappear" after the birth, and you have to give birth still. The child is also a person and has a name. Those are points I wish this show touched on more.  Everyone will have their own opinion though. I know many who have endured this will have a much stronger one however.

*Please share what you think about this episode and if you have not watched it I have a link to the show below.
